simple led/photcell question

hi,

Yesterday i posted my success at creating my LED/photocell vactrol.
I had it working from a 0-6vdc bench supply.
I tried it with a cv from a Serge slope generator and it did not work.
I suppose there is to much amperage be drawn by the LED,
right???(newbie). I need something to drive the LED.

A transistor (which, how) or op-amp (buffer??). I hope to install the
mode in the DOD delay pedal.

  looking for help, suggestions. :-)
