I don't know whether it is part of the sound. Certainly many people have
suggested it. But one thing is for sure, the 2SC1583 is a great part and
very cheap.

I agree. But of of more importance is the 2SK30A-O in the VCO buffer.
This has more effect on the TB's sound than any other part. You can trim
out the differences if you use a BF244, but to get the saw and the
square just right the O part is the part you have to use.

And I need some more, my stock is running lowish.
