OT: HP-IB interface

hi there all,

I've got a question about the HP-IB interface.

I have bought a network analyzer in Sweden for $60 :-). It's the 3040 system from Hewlett Packard.
But I didn't get the cable for the digital remote control that fits the synthesizer and the gain phase
detector to each other. I have replaced the cable by soldering flatcable 1:1 between the HP-IB connector
ports. And it works for like 50% I think. But still the readings on the detector don't change when I change the
sweeps per second. This should be the case according to the manual. Also some other stuff may not be working
So I checked if the connections were wrong but I can only find the connector pinout for the detector in the service manual
and not for the sweep generator. So I cannot be sure that my connections to the synthesizer are right.

So here's my question:
Are the HP-IB interfaces always the same in pin out ? Or are there devices that have for instance the data
pins on other pins than other devices ?
And does anyone know the pinout for the synthesizer: HP3330A. It's old probably 25 years.

By the way when I get this baby up and running completely then it would be no problem to measure the
responses of filters and components for people from the list if they need to know something.
If interested you can mail me.

Greets,
Heiko
