What are collet knobs?

Instead of having a screw in the side, these knobs have a small "drill
chuck" like arrangement that grips the shaft. This is adjusted by a
screw directly under the top cap of the knob. It works by pulling the
conical inner sleeve, which is divided into four "fingers" into the
conical outer sleeve. The further into the outer sleeve the inner sleeve
is pulled, the tighter it grips the shaft.
