Sync pulse to hex value

Hey...

Modifying the TB-303 by adding a LED display that shows
the current BPM value shuld not be to hard according
to my theory. By Intercepting the tempo clock pulse
that goes in to pin PA3 of the CPU and multiplying it with
1440 should according to my calculations give the exact
BPM value.
Ii this possibly correct or have I made som fatal misstake
here? By the way is there anyway to achieve this without
a preprogrammed chip? The output should be the BPM value
in either hex or binary.

I couldnt find any saticfying ones there.
