See Thomas Henry's "Build a Tunable Noise Generator" in the Nov.
99 (vol. 20, no. 11) Nuts and Volts (pages 25-27). It uses the 566
as a tunable noise source, but also shows how the chip can be used
to get a 20 Hz to 20Khz range by using a John Simonton trick
first described in Polyphony, Nov. 77, p.28-31. I would love to
see a copy of that article. The N&V article also shows Terry Mikulic's
exponential converter from Electronotes (v. 5, No. 37, p. 2-4).
I really like the 566. I think it makes a very sweet triangle wave
and a pleasantly buzzy square wave.
Thomas Henry says to check his website for more, but I haven't seen
anything about this circuit. I gather he has been very, very busy.
The new web site does look A+, though: http://mall.lakes.com/~map
