verily, it is a piece of junk, in a horrid box with a terrible interface
and- if you didn't pay extra for the memory option- the spazzy little
buttons wear out and start bouncing very quickly. that said, once I'd
rebuilt the power supply (changed everything- transformer, bridge, regs, the
lot) and discovered the problem with the moog gate input sinking too much
current, it continues to give sterling service.
struck me, after rereading some of this thread, that my requirements of a
midi-cv converter are somewhat different than other peoples' because we use
the instruments in a different way- the band don't do much by way of
programming something that will be repeated exactly as part of an
arrangement, so midi control over more parameters of the analogue synths
isn't an issue- we just reach out and tweak the actual control. there's no
need for us to remote-up a knob with another one because we're not overly
concerned with recording and reproducing the adjustments we make (except as
audio, obviously).
and there are cv outputs on the peavey pc1600 that could be pressed into
service.....
