use a voltage regulator after the batt.. lose some power but constant
voltage wwill keep yr amp the same

a couple of lpf's ought to do it sallen-key lpf is simple effective & cheap

>-how stable will the pll be?
pll's are always trouble! I have much grief with a pll this week!. poss that
the SPDIF uses mark phase bicoding - this is what is used in digital
telephone netwks.. the sending of any kind of data bit is 2 pulses of
varying identity [high, low, start, stop, error] the whole spec is complex
there are weird protocols to aviod ambiguity etc, but the general upshot is
that 2 pulses = 1 clock cycle or something like that.. ie the clock in
inherent with the data, only a flipflop or something to recover it..dont
know if this is used in spdif tho
