I did the same thing with an ex-rental sci2000, which is probably from about
the same era; I bought a floppy drive from a computer store for £30 (which
seems a lot now....) and matched up the jumpers and dropped it in. it was
1/2 the width of the original, so I glued a compact-cassette box to it's
lid.
