Analog sequencer question...

I've played with this, using the simple sequencer in the yamaha cs30 as a
model.... as long as there's an appreciable edge to the clock, the counter
will run. by varying the pulse-width, you have a neat way of controlling
gate-duration which can be passed on to the synth envelopes as-is. going
further, you could actually use the counter to step through different values
of pulse width and have all the steps of your sequence have their own
durations. so as long as you stay within the (experimentally determined)
limits of what will run the counter, no problem. never seen this on a
commercial unit, though- don't know why, it's simple enough.
