Analog sequencer question...

The 4017 can take about 2MHz clock freq. (50% duty cycle)
Don't know what style of high speed jungle you play,
but i think you don't need to worry.

About the 555,
there is a way to get 50% duty cycle.
Use pin 3 to load and unload the cap and pin 7 as a open collector output.
