Y-ellow Y'all.
I don't believe this is off topic exactly since the ultimate reason for
making musical instruments is to make music. However, if you're not German,
can't sing a bit and can't record your voice, this probably isn't going to
interest you. Unless of course you're just curious as to what that "Crazy
Batz dood" is up to his neck in this time. And I'm asking the people here
who might be interested before I look further afield.
Required 1 Authentic German person:
With an Authentic Kraftwerk-esk sounding voice. Who could
sing/vocalize/rap/whatever a few lyrics for me. This may seem like a
strange request of me to make and it is. But there's a reason for it. Well
apart from the fact I no longer have a voice myself. I will try to keep
this as brief as possible.
About a month ago I had a dream. (where have I hear that before?) I was in
a place that could only be described as some kind of brothel. I'll cut
short the descriptions of this place but 2 of the women lead me to a
bedroom. More like a dining room or a den actually. In which there was a
cabinet of map draws. You know those huge flat draws you use to keep large
maps and technical drawings flat in. Only this was made of wood, looked
antique and had labels on each of the 8 or so draws.
One of the women gestured to me as though a hostess on the set of some
Television game show and said, "Which fantasy would you like?"
She touched a few draws and they began to open slowly till I spotted one
labeled "I am a Space man". With a picture of a space suited astronaut on it.
I asked. "What's that?" and immediately this music started playing.
It was kind of like a cross between Kraftwerk, modern techno and an other,
as yet unquntified element. Perhaps you might call it symphonic? And a
Voice with the unmistakable ayre of Kraftwerk sprang out singing...
I am a spaceman. I live in outer space.
I am a spaceman. I live in outer space.
On a mission to Mia, they left me here.
Now I can't rejoin the human race.
I woke up, skipped breakfast, came straight out to the studio and put it
down almost 100% as I had heard it. But before I could get serious with it,
the Mixer I've been working on for over 12 months now, died mysteriously
due to an EEPROM problem and it's taken me this long to get back to it.
I've now pretty much mixed and mastered the bed tracks. Now I need someone
to sing it. Preferably someone who is German rather than someone who does
impressions. Then it will be 99% what I heard in the dream.
So I'm asking here in the hope that one of our German contingent might be
interested in doing it and keep it in the family so to speak. If anyone
would be interested in helping me out I would very much appreciate it. Of
course with appropriate attribution etc. It probably won't go anywhere but
it could be fun to do.
Thanks in advance. Hope to hear from you soon.
Be absolutely Icebox.
