My entry features TWO Variable Oscillators... Ring Modulator... Bandpass
filter, and
Preset Decay feature. Actual construction / debug time was 45 min.
I used... one IC, two resistors, and three capacitors...
I call it the "Onomatopoeia" because my wife can spell that word ! It
refers to the sound that Crickets make... but thats BEFORE you start to
play it !!!
Powered by a single 9volt battery, it needs NO AMPLIFICATION !!! (even
my 70+
years mother said... "Its kinda loud.. ain't it?"
OK enough marketing bullshit. The "Bandpass" feaure comes from putting
your hand over
the tweeter horn. And the decay feature starts when you switch the unit
off and the filter cap discharges. The oscillators are controlled by
placing "conductive" fingers across the timing resistors. You can pitch
mod either or both oscillators. Sweaty hands help...
I like a 10uF across the power supply, and .1uF for the oscillators.
Should you get both oscillators to sync (frequency AND phase) perfectly,
the sound will STOP. A slight air draft and you are off to the races
again.
So I'm posting my entry for the "Synth in 60 min" challenge.
I ALSO claim... replacing either or both resistors with PHOTOCONDUCTIVE
cells...
or LDRs but that's another thread.. ain't it.
Looking forward to seeing your puny 555s try to take on my MONSTER !!!!
