I am not at all familiar with this unit, but I think your 
guess of bad power supply is probably close to the mark. 
You may be experiencing corrosion problems on power supply 
connectors, if the unit has them. Cycling the connectors 
will usually clear the problem long enough to determine 
if they are the cause. Also remember the grounding is just 
as important (or more so) as the other supply connections.
