You could install a metal plate on one side for all the connections. I would
be careful of components that get hot being in contact with the wood and
other fire hazards. A solid metal case with wood panels attached to the
outside is best, but expensive. All exposed metal parts should be grounded.

All depends on how big a power supply you put in it. Ventilation is
important.
