The big Mess part 2!

[More Italians]

Charlie Labs had their own desk and they had 3
OB12 DSP based instruments but all the noise
around their both was so loud so it was not to
easy to hear what it sounded like but as far as
i could hear it sounded like the rest of the
DSP based instruments.

Besides that they had a interesting portable
keyboard that you could bend on the middle to
make it half as short??

And there was an Italian maker of digital mixing desk
who assembles their stuff in China (low prise low paid labour)
so the prise was surprisingly low compared to allen/heat,
soundcraft and the rest of the schmuck.
The price is 316USD and vill be available
in October found the design interesting.
DD1823 is the model number

have a peek a pook at:

[Mechanics et all]
For people living in Germany and you whit big
money to spend the box manufacturer wo does
waldorfs synth boxes was showing any kind of
audio boxes.

[The Swede go bananas]
When the Messe arrangers know that the mess is going
to be visited by people from all over the world why
the hell don't they have some chairs so people could
rest their feet????

Other interesting gadgets was the MUP22 and 88
and multiplayer 3 from miditemp a German manufacturer
of quite a odd but could be useful device for some.

Other sequenser computer stuff was showed by:

[First Award for, "we dont know how to promote our stuff" ?]

Goes to Digigram. I have never seen so un inspired or
un interested sales people as they appeared to be.

I think Digigram has splendid products and designs
they have a PCMCIA sound card based on a 56309
whit very nice specs and price but i didn't see
any software for it,,,but if you just imagine a bit
all that is needed is a simple and well written PCMCIA
driver and a loader for the DSP card and you would be
able to download synthesis algorithms from various
manufacturers! You could very easily extract for example
the micro Nords algorithms to run on the VXpocket card.

After attending the big mess i can say that i feel
a bit disappointed by the music market, there is
actually noting that was "very" interesting, it was
more or less the same stuff recycled yet another turn!

Yes there was one dude who had invented a new and interesting thing
it came from Switcherland (the country where they make all the switches!)it
was a piece of aluminium in a shape of a rectangular, palm size.

Imagine a square labyrinth remove all the inner tracks but leave
the last two outer tracks of the labyrinth, then mill out the aluminium
between these two tracks. Then you get a second square in the middle, now
take a piece of drumstick and hit the inner metal piece and you will hear a
crystal clear tone whit a amazingly long sustain!!!
By far the longest sustain i ever have heard of a
mechanical instrument!

Now the interesting part was the ability of this design to produce
three different tones, by holding the inner metal square and hit the
outer metal square of the out milled labyrinth you made a different tone. Do
the same but then hit the outer metal square on the vertical edge and you
got a tone of half the sustain and a third different tone!!

The design is patented by the designer and he asked for retailers.

[Most tragic manufacturer]
The music industry has turned into a evil place, the competition is
devastating for small manufacturers, the software patent problem
is a monster in USA and Japan and God forbid that it will
expand to other country's! (im not religious but!!)

But i must say that all of the loudspeaker exhibitors was
tragic to see, noone seamed to pay any interest to them
and what could they do besides just sitting there and wait!!
