My frankfurter story...
My friends dad was driving. Fastest ride I ever had. Twice as fast as the
duck...
Finally arrived after 3 hours or so, I found out that I completely forgot to
bring german money. Stupid as hell, But I wasn't alone. My friends dad
seemed to be the only one that was that smart... But he even had enough to
pay food for us all...
I was a little disappointed about not seeing the little manufactorers. I was
really hoping that I could finally see some of the stuff the internet's
plenty about in realtime, Big Briars etherwave for example, or Shermans new
modular filterbank (Altough it would be easier to just go pay him a visit.
That would only take a half hour drive...)
But I guess the real small companies ain't got the money to go there... Or
maybe I missed the hall with the cool stuff. Never made it to hall 8 for
example...
I also wanted to talk about midi CV convertors. The one thing I know alot
about... Only found one guy that distributed Kenton and Philip Rees stuff,
and he really didn't knew what he sold. Polyphonic? What? Oh, I never used
it that way...
And I also tried to find out more about the andromeda. But the guy I started
talking with was more of a sales guy I guess. He told me there was just 1
custom chip per voice. And that they'd been working on it for 5 years or
something. Couldn't get more out of him...
One thing I did like alot was talking to the TC electronics guy. And what a
small world it is, it's only a 15 minutes drive to his place... They were
starting a new marketing strategy; they were planning on giving alot of
*free* workshops to learn how to work with there material... This stuff is
very expensive, but knowing that we students can't afford any of it, he
invited us anyway, and there's lots to learn with these guys. They really
know what they're talking about.
And I also remember the Creamware thing. Tried it too. Couldn't get it to do
anything I wanted, so I left...
On the way home we were speeding again. And about 100 km in the wrong
direction. If the guy didn't drove that hard, he might not have missed the
sign, and we'd probably been home earlier... :-)
After all, it was nice anyway. Same as visiting a music shop, few hunderd
times bigger, and you can touch everything...
And I do have a BOSS wallet chain now. Wonder if i'll ever use it...
