Hi Everyone,
Let me just explain what I have in mind, and thanks so far for your replies.
First of all, I am a recording and performing techno-musician. Reading the
liner notes from "Ahead of their time" - Frank Zappa/The Mothers of
Invention", I discovered that the groups keyboardplayer brought along some
home made oscillator-boxes which made a lot of noise.
This inspired me to start thinking about making such a misterious box.
Wouldn't it be great to have a small box with a few switches and knobs
which after some serious fiddling would make a hell of a racket. A kind of
guitar pedal, but than a mini-synth. Great for in the studio, and hilarious
for on stage.
So what I basically want to build is the following:
A small box containing one VCO with two wave shapes (maybe three), a tuning
knob, a cv input, and an "on"-switch which bypasses the cv-input and lets
the tuning-knob control the output.
The VCO-output should then go to a filter with a cv input, a resonace-knob,
and a frequency knob, with cv-bypass switch.
The filter output should then go to a amplifier-stage, and voila, here's
your noise box.
So it's basically a simple synth without the envelope generators (or attack
zero, and endless sustain).
Why build such a thing? Well, just for 'fun' actually, and as a start-up
model for bigger modular synths. It is actually a miniature modular-
synth....
Well, I hope I have clarified what my I want, and what I have in mind.
Thanks again,
Corneel.
