There's another  trick to play here. If you have some compute power
available in the system that is driving the DAC, you can calculate a
larger DAC value based on the difference between the last value sent
and the new value. This will allow you to get very close to the new
value in one step with a much faster update time. The down side to
this is that you have to watch out for math overflow if you make a
large step towards Vmin or Vmax.
