A while ago, I worked on a large Amek studio mixing board that had mic 
preamps which had something like 10 paralelled transistor pairs.  It was an 
"Angela" console.  I cannot honestly say whether this technique resulted in 
any sonic improvement.  I'll try to find the schematic for it, as it might be 
of use to someone.
