any *REAL BEGINNER* electronics books?

Non-tech musicians & artists keep asking me for 
beginners books on electronics. But, I cant find anything
that looks helpful to a real beginner.
Has anyone seen a book called "There Are No Electrons"?
It gets mega-glowing reviews. If it's in a shop near you, 
I'd like to hear if it is suitable.
Or, any other book suitable for self-instruction.
