One more caution concerning solder, since it contains lead. Although we
hear a lot about its negative effects on children (who like to nibble on
lead paint for some reason...), it pays to be cautious when using
solder. Adequate venilation, such as a small fan, should be used,
perhaps more to dissipate the flux fumes, although there must be some
lead in the air.

More importantly, wash your hands after using solder. Wash your face
too, as you will probably touch some portion of your face during the
process. Ingestion is the primary route for lead to enter the body, so
don't eat or smoke while using solder.
