Why not use a ~20 l canister filled with water as a combined solder
trap AND vaccuum reservoir? One could then use any kind of water pump to
pump the water to another reservoir; out goes the water, in goes
..hmm.. the vaccuum. PLUS there's no longer any danger of getting solder
to the insides of the pump since it'll go solid immediately and can then
be filtered. AND after desoldering for a couple of hours one can take a
nice break, empty the solder trap on a clean sheet of paper and watch the
solder lumps' shadows in candlelight and pretend it's new years eve again
and again, if you do the casting stuff on 1.1 , that is.
