yeah this happens. Dont buy much at a time & keep it in a ziplock bag.
I found the stuff from www.allelectronics.com (where I get my blue
Press'n'Peel) works good. I've got an electric sucker but depending on
the joint in hand, sometines the wick is best.
And, cut off the legs if you can. And use a fine steel needle to push the
solder out of the hole while it is molten.

Tragically, practice *DOES* make all the difference.
So, get those $2 'unknown' boards at the computer swap meet & go for it!
