Were the Good Old Days all that good?

I agree with Paul S. that there are 2 types of DIY member on this list.
I am of the "I want to build it, make music, learn more, and maybe someday I
will figure out how to design my own circuits" classification. I have
learned LOTS lurking (mostly) on this list, and have indulged in buying pcbs
from Tom G. and kits/pcbs from John Blacet. Paul, it's only a matter of time
(and money) before I get to you :)
I have no desire to steal ideas and make my own commercial product (except
my "telepathic wire" idea- still working out the kinks on that one).
I recognize the HARD work involved in designing circuits, pcbs, parts lists,
web pages etc ad nauseum in making these projects available to guys like me,
who like to build, modify, tweak, LEARN and save a few bucks in the process.
Not everyone can talk eloquently on the subject of tempcos, vco design, or
filters, but I sure enjoy picking up what I can from these talented
gentlemen.
As for those who do lurk on the list and plagiarize, karma will catch up
with them.
