DIY PCB etching

accidentally sent this to J. privately but i would like to ask the list:


i have used press-n-peel for my DIY PCBs.  am i gathering that i do not 
need this--can i achieve the same result with transparencies fed thru my 
laser printer?  (are they iron-able?)
