This is an on-going debate...Which is better? Perfection or character?
Specs or sound? Engineers want specs musicians want sound. I fall
into the latter when there is a conflict.

If my hollow log doesn't sound like yours it's because it's my
hollow log!! If you think yours sounds better it's because it's
yours. Most people will think they sound good together
regardless of how much we have invested in our opinions.

It's true the EFM ms20 filter isn't perfect. (gasp shock horror!) it's
also true the original ms20 vcf wasn't perfect ether. The EFM
version sounds exactly like the original except there is a little more
gain in the res-loop so you can overdrive the res a little more. I put
up a wave file to show this a while back.

I wouldn't want to only have ms20 type filters any more than I want
only SSM2040s. Varity is the spice of life and different tones make
music interesting.

This debate does take something away from the fact that is a terrific
sounding filter. Even if the Joni Mitchell crowd thinks it's nasty there
are those of us who want that edge in our music. I like a lot of music
but I prefer overdriven distorted Marshalls and Les Pauls would it
be fair of me to say everything else sucks.....No! Could I say that
the overdriven distorted Marshalls and Les Paul are technically
perfect....No! Could I say that overdriven distorted Marshalls and
Les Pauls have been the catalyst for more record sells than synth
albums...Absolutely!!

Sometimes you guys are such snobs!!!
