OT: pulse forming network

Lately, I've been trying to get a ruby laser up and running, and I need to
figure out how to design a pulse forming network to discharge send a pulse
into the flashlamp.

I'm planning to use a 150 uf, 1.5KV capacitor, charged to 1KV, which will
result in 75 joules being dumped into the lamp. I need to find a proper
inductor to put in series with the capacitor in order to get a pulse duration
of 1 or 2 milliseconds. Is the formula to calculate the inductance the same
as I would use to calculate an LC time constant, or something different
altogether?
