Lithium!

the NiMH battery excells in supplying LOTS of current and in the
ability to be recharged... need that for a laptop (or cordless power
tool)

the Lithium excells in Low self-discharge and flatness of discharge
curve,
and is best for those low (like zero) current drain apps like memory
backup.

And why recharge when you don't have to (for the next 10-15 years...)
