MC14562B 128 bit static CMOS shift register

Does anyone know why the taps are as they are?

16 32 48 64 80 96 112 and 128.

The manual doesn't say why.  Is this a noise generator waiting
for a clock and an XOR tree?  I don't have a clue if the
taps are optimal.
