>midi. Is there any program or sequencer that will recieve time clock and
still be able to start manually. To check the specs on this machine here is

I take it you've got the 24 PPQ MIDI clock, you just don't have the needed
start and stop messages interleaved in with the clock.

Well, I tried it on my TR909 last night, and it worked well. I used an
external clock coming from Cakewalk. I could then press the
start/stop/continue buttons, and the 909 would react. Changing the tempo in
Cakewalk also changed the 909.

The trouble: at most tempos, 24 PPQ is still a pretty small interval. You
have to be VERY precise when you press the button, otherwise the 909 will
start up out of sync (off by a couple of ticks), and never make it into
sync. You have to be quick enough to do it inbetween the 24th tick of one
beat, and the 1st of the next.

It also wouldn't be too hard to make a little box that took the MIDI with
only clock ticks on it, and added start/stop messages to the stream.
