    Vertical Grain Douglas Fir is nice.  I built a bookcase out of it (a big
one 7' high by 14' long).  Spent a fortune on the wood.  It takes stain very
nicely.  I used a very light stain and then finished with polyurathane.  It
came out with a very nice golden glow.

    I was thinking just like you to use it to make my next case.  Last case I
built I used particle board (barf).
