I do this with a pulse generated from an electronic metronome, EQ'ed for a
slightly wider bandwidth than the stock metronome sound. I had a CD burned of
about 15 minutes of pulses at 2.25 second intervals, that I use for
programming digital reverbs in concert halls when I'm mixing live sound. It's
not particularly scientific because I simply use my ears to match the
ambience of the hall with the electronic reverb, but the result is amplified
sound coming out of speakers that has the same ambient characteristics as the
venue.
