I use a Pyrex dish, that I put on the stove and keep it on the lowest heat setting. If it starts steaming, I just turn the heat off for a while.
I bought the Pyrex at a flea market for $3.
I would avoid the microwave. You need to agitate it while etching. That would be difficult if it was in an oven.
