I will always remember being given word problems for extra credit on some of my calc tests, 
only to do them, get them correct, but, because I used a shortcut (still using calc mind you), 
not being given any credit whatsoever. I argued that the method was not specified ( I used 
newtons approximation rather than the very tiresome trapezoidal aproximation; had i use the 
trapezoidal method, I would have never finished it at all!)

But, of course, since we hadnt covered Newtons method yet, it was given no credit.. 
Mind you, somehow, the instructor had the nerve to tell me " had it not been a test, I would 
say that it was a damn good job"!

Things like this made me dislike math.. 

Next math class I take (this coming fall) Im showing up in very nice clothes rather than fat 
pants and a mecca t-shirt! Maybe that will get me within the liking of the instructor..
