Reverb tanks are available in all kinds of sizes and input/output
impedances - intended for transistor/tube/op amp drive circuits.
Have any of you experienced any differences in the sound with
different drive circuits/input impedances? Any reason not to go
with op amp drive and the higher impedance drive coils?
The Accutronics application note (free for the asking from
Accutronics) goes into great detail on reverb drive circuits, and the
good and bad points of each.
The executive summary is that opamps don't have enough gazorch to
drive the reverb tank at the level where it sounds best.
