Can you feed audio through a synth?

Hmm, no much experience with that? 

Did you ever modulate a resonating Filter with an Audiosignal oder did
you put audio into a Ringmodulator, or split a Audiosignal in a
Multimodefilter, feed both channels through a envelopefollowers and
parrallel through a feedthrough VCA wich is controlled by the inverted
signalenvelope of the other channel (you may describe this as
crossfrequency compression or sooo...)

I use my modular as often as Synth as I use it as effects unit for other
Audiosignals.

(That does not mean, that Vocoders would be uninteresting)
