But why would they?  They already know everything!  No seriously, you wont
catch them wanting to run a new model using an outdated $50-$100 curtis chip. 
Instead they produce the whole damn thing for about $20.

The resources there are amazing, especially in Akahabara.  There biggest
problem is noone has the stuff we like to operate and modify.  You aren't
going to pay four grand for a minimoog there and even think about.

You know, there has always been a very healthy DIY community in Japan.   In 
the 1980's there were magazines that were full of synth & music DIY projects,

several companies that made very sophisticated DIY kits, and there still are 
a few nice DIY hi-fi magazines (lots of esoteric tube audio stuff).  It would

be great to get some of those people involved in our group.  I don't think 
language is really the main barrier - most of the native Japanese that I met 
(on several trips I have taken there) have spoken English to a usable degree.

 All of the musicians that I met spoke English.  How can we encourage them to

participate?  I wonder if there is a Japanese group similar to ours?
