The Tru zero FM I've retrofitted to a 3340 VCO is a little "dirty"
around the zero crossing as well. I guess it's the comparator:
No hysteresis -> prone to oscillation
Hysteresis -> tends to miss short zero crossings forth and back.

Yes that's a big advantage on veroboard or single sided PCBs.
One reason why I prefer a japanese dual transitor over a 3086
transistor array.
There are a lot japanese opamps in SIL packages, too.
I did not find the time to ckeck data sheets, but it would be great
to have a few equivalents to 4558, 072, 5532, 358 etc. in SIL
package. Anybody found some useful general purpose SIL audio
opamps ?
