Sequential Split-8 repair

Barry:

I'm going out on a limb here, but I think someone else who thought they were
doing repairs replaced a diode with a 220 ohm resistor around the regulator.
Perhaps something blew the diode out (and up!). The repair person took a
guess and got it wrong?
