I stuck a 2044 into my Pro-one the other week on a daughter board, with a
switch to choose between the 2044 and the internal 3320.
I have to agree - the 2044 is the nicer sounding filter by a fair margin.
Still not quite as nice as the Moog ladder, tho' I'll need to a/b the 2044
with the ladder in my Prodigy to confirm this.
