That was the Ambient composer.  Roland Co-designed it with Brian Eno, John Cage
and a couple of other "atmospheric" composers.  The machine never reached mass
production because it involved gobs of RAM, which in the 80's was very cost
prohibitive, nor was there a CPU capable of generating the complex "zufall"
(randomness) algorithms required to make this a true "Ambient Composer".

HAs anyone seen or touched a MC-404.  I hear someone is selling one.  I
didn't know Roland made one until I found it on a site but it had no
info on it...  It only stated that it was made...
