Hi Mikko,
I know quite well Dream processors (Christian Deforeit,
its designer, was a member of the board of trusties of my
doctoral thesis).
If you really want to go into programming, you will have to
obtain the complete development kit.
As far as I remember, it is quite hard to program. It is pure
assembly code with pipelines and the like...
If you only want to use the "standard" functionnality. You will
only need the basic development kit. That's what you need
if you just want to read wavetables and do some low pass filtering.
Dream chips are able to perform FM synthesis too (without the thru
zero problem).
