need 4067 mux/dmux

i'm in the middle of servicing a prophet 600. after swapping the EPROM with 
a known good one,  i think i've narrowed down the unit's erratic problems 
to the pot multiplexer/demultiplexer on board 1. i'm hoping a simple 
replacement of this chip will do (the one from my other, working prophet 
seems to fix it).

does anyone know what would cause this to chip to fail (ie, are there other 
components i should check to prevent future problems)?

the chip reads:
HCF4067BE
SSS  88328

i would appreciate any help in finding a replacement.

according to the p600 service manual it is a 16 channel mux/demux, part U108.
