Right you are - you also need to reset the counter and the latches, but my 
question still stands:  Is there a good way to do hard sync on the high-speed 
triangle VCO?  >>

Now that I think about it, I wonder if all you'd really need would be reset 
for the counter & latch, since the clock is running at 32x the actual pitch.  
The timing of your sync would never be more than 1/32 of a wave period off.
