Clear PCB Etchant

I would be guessing the etchant you are refering to is ammonium persulphate.
This stuff has advantages, and disadvantages over ferric.
I buy mine in a crystal powder form and add hot water. The positives are
fast etching, and it doesn't stain as much as the ferric does, its clear so
you can see the state of etching. The problem associated with both acids are
unless they are kept hot, then etching is slow. Also you cant reuse the
ammomium......

To keep the stuff hot, the cheapest way is to go and buy a old electric
frypan from the op-shop or wherever and use this to keep the acid cooking.

hope this helps
