Thanks to everyone who contibuted to the list re building a simple modular
system. Ive had time to think about what i actually want to achieve with
this and unfortuately it means asking a few more questions.

I have all the facilities to build a board as long as i have a picure of the
PCB layout which i ca then photoetch onto some uv sensitive board.

I want to understand how and why the bits do what they do and due also to my
lack of money i would, rather than buy a ready made board, like to download
PCB layouts and instructions for seperate modules. I know this is a lot to
expect as generally nothing is free but i guess this is the best place to
ask!!

The synth doesnt have to be good, it is more of a tool to show me how and
why these things happen and also to ace the synthesis part of my music tech
a level. I dont particularly want to use a software synth like generator
though,because i want to build the thing rather than virtually construct it.
