Is there a FAQ?

Hi.

I want to build a stand-alone analogue filter. (almost like an effects 
box).  I daresay you people don't approve of this sort of thing, but 
Maplin did a kit for a self oscillating 4-pole filter, but they appeared 
to have stopped producing it. I don't have much experience with 
electronics short of making simple models at school 10 years ago. I can't 
read circuit diagrams but want to learn - can you point me in the 
direction of a good book/website/your FAQ which include instructions for 
construction of the above.
