Hi there,
as we are already talking about calculus and it's applications in circuit
analysis. I have the following question:
are there good books that have circuit analysis details of the circuits in
analog synths in them. For example i have never found a detailed analysis
of a lin to exp converter or the formulae that govern a diodeladder filter
in a electronics book.
I would be interested in this because ripping all kinds of synth schem
parts from various synths is nice for starters but it would of course be
nicer to understand all the schems so modifications to existing schem would
be more easier etc.

By the way have you seen the bassline land site. It's great if you're in
for a laugh.

especially look at the secrets revealed part. This is funny. 
Look at the disclaimer. They state they know everything about the bassline
and if there where errors in the page they'd know. They even know the
number of the dual transistor in the filter: 2sc1583 ;-).
error one: they state that the square wave is being mixed with the saw and
this explains the specific sound of the square. (they don't talk about the
overdriven transistor in the saw to square circuit.)
they have drawings of the effect. But it looks to me they're using their
scope in the rong mode or a rotten probe.

error two: the explanation of the filter: this is bandpass not lowpass.

error three: check the sequencer part: the trimpots have all been
explained. This has also been messed up even to the point where they say
that int. clock (interrupt clock) means internal clock.

Great fun for everybody who wants to feel superior in synth knowledge and
just for fun.

By the way does anyone know the owners of this site. I tried to mail them
but they have no real address and don't answer to the danko address at the
bottom (this is probably not a real address).
