The basic understanding of the individual parts of the circuit may have
been regarded as absolute neccessary thus it was not mentioned explicitly.
But still then, when planning a circuit or it's feasability all the
math is essential.  And sometimes also when the circuit won't work,
not due to shorts but due to more subtle effects.
